Nursing home outreach program

Sitting in area nursing homes are two groups of people. First, there are dear Christians trapped in failing bodies who need the joy and uplift of a visit from brothers and sisters in Christ. Second, there are dear souls sitting at the door of eternity who need to be rescued from the final wages of sin and introduced to the Savior. We hold weekly services where the residents join in song, hear God’s word and fellowship with our ministering group.  Not only the residents, but we as well are a genuinely blessed to spend this time worshiping Our Savior, Jesus Christ.

We help the residents with items they need, free of charge.  Sometimes they need a few pieces of clothing, a new book, or a television.  Sometimes they need a gift for a family member or friend but cannot afford one, in which case they are allowed to pick something out.  No matter how big or small, we help in whatever way God allows, with their needs.

Some residents receive as little as $10.00 per month to purchase their personal items. Where possible, we try to supplement a few of these needs, such as shampoo, lotion, Kleenex, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste as well as a few snacks when allowed.  We were blessed to be able to give out over 250 gift bags this past Christmas to the residents.  Each home is different in their needs.

We always share the gospel while reaching out to them in a fashion that will foster friendships and an understanding that we love each one of them. We worked with the activity director of one home to develop a library .

We are also going to be providing  greeting cards free to the residents for their use.  Most have barely enough money for a stamp, much less a card to send to those they love. Whether it is through a gentle smile, a hug around the neck, a piece of candy, a gently used radio, or a new pair of reading glasses, we want our precious friends to know they are loved and that Jesus cares for each one of them.

Please pray for us as we minister to so many who have fallen through the cracks of society and who are now a shadow in the corner.

If you have a loved one in  assisted living or rehabilitation center locally and would like to schedule visits or you know of somebody that could use friendly encouragement Let us know!
